Toolbox Talks

16 - Burns

Burns from hot surfaces, chemicals, or electricity happen quickly. Wear the correct PPE, stay alert, and know basic burn first aid procedures.

17 - Vehicle Safety

Worksite vehicles pose serious hazards. Always wear high-visibility gear, follow site traffic rules, and stay aware of blind spots and moving equipment.

18 - Fatigue

Fatigue slows reaction time and leads to mistakes. Prioritize rest, take breaks, and speak up if you or a coworker seems overtired.

19 - Knives and Blades

Use proper cutting techniques, wear protective gloves, and store them in designated areas. Report damaged or dull blades for replacement.

20 - Fire Extinguishers

Fires escalate quickly. Know where extinguishers are located, how to use them correctly, and what type is appropriate for different fire classes.

21 - Safety Mindset

A safety mindset helps everyone. Stay focused, follow procedures, speak up about hazards, and encourage coworkers to make safety a shared priority.

22 - Lifting and Rigging

Improper rigging can lead to dropped loads or equipment failure. Inspect gear, know the load limits, and use correct lifting techniques every time.

23 - New Employees

New workers are more likely to get hurt. Provide thorough training, mentorship, and frequent check-ins to ensure a safe learning environment on-site.

24 - Reporting

Reporting near-misses and hazards helps prevent future accidents. Don’t stay silent—speak up and protect yourself and your coworkers from potential harm.

25 - Scaffold Safety

Scaffolds must be stable and secure. Always inspect before use, wear fall protection, and never climb without proper guardrails in place.

26 - Lone working

Working alone increases risk if an accident happens. Use buddy systems, check-ins, and communication devices to ensure someone can respond in emergencies.

27 - Workplace Violence

Violence doesn’t belong at work. Know the warning signs, follow de-escalation techniques, and report any threats or aggressive behavior immediately.

28 - Verbal Communication

Miscommunication causes mistakes and injuries. Speak clearly, confirm instructions, and ask questions when unsure to keep the worksite safe and efficient.

29 - Lightning Safety

Lightning strikes are deadly. If you hear thunder, stop work and seek shelter—especially when using tall tools, scaffolds, or working in open areas.

30 - Winter Driving

Driving in snow and ice requires extra caution. Slow down, increase following distance, and clear all windows before heading to or from work.
